What combines summertime fun and early literacy skills? Our daily activity calendar for July!

Whether you are on a road trip or stuck inside on a rainy day, summer offers all sorts of opportunities to build early literacy skills. As usual, our calendar includes lots of prompts to get you and your little one reading, singing, and talking. But did you know that things like running in the grass and playing in the water help with early literacy, too? As it turns out, you’re not just goofing off. You’re developing essential skills through sensory play. Sounds like a pretty great way to spend a summer day!

Be sure to check back next week—we’ll be featuring a guest post from Jodie Rodriguez of Growing Book by Book. Jodie will be sharing tips and tricks for keeping a busy toddler engaged in story time. (Good news: Sitting still is optional!)
