It’s holiday baking season! These once-a-year treats aren’t just delicious, they are family traditions that have been handed down from one generation to the next. Holiday baking also offers the opportunity for family and friends to gather in the kitchen to share stories and create memories.
Grandma’s Kitchen, our sweet new storybook that celebrates the joy of baking with Grandma, will be hitting shelves soon. The story highlights some of the many things little ones can learn when you include them in the kitchen, like teamwork, patience, and sharing. Most of all, this sweet li’l story communicates unconditional love and illustrates the importance of spending quality time together. Here’s one of our favorite lines from the grandma in the book: “I love to bake, that’s true. But the thing that I love most is spending time with you.” After all, it really is your presence, not presents, that children want most at Christmastime.
Here at the Cottage, we were inspired by this story to share our own favorite family holiday cookie recipes and have a cookie exchange as part of our holiday party. We’ve attached a few for you to try with your little one—and maybe Grandma, too! Happy holidays!
