Summer is the perfect time to slow down and enjoy the little things.

As the days get longer and typical routines give way to sunshine, summer offers up opportunities to enjoy the simple moments that make time spent with loved ones so special.

Of course, you can spontaneously create these moments throughout the week just by enjoying a good book while your toddler takes an extra-long nap, having a dance party while making dinner, or going out for ice cream on a hot night.

But sometimes even small moments require a teeny, tiny bit of planning. Here are a few simple suggestions to try with your little ones.

Introduce an Old Tradition

Do you remember catching fireflies in a jar, or making homemade popsicles? Maybe there’s something you did as a kid that evokes fond memories of family and summertime. Telling stories of your childhood and introducing your little ones to some of your favorite things is a great way to connect.

In the spirit of revisiting childhood memories, our VP of Sales & Marketing shared a recipe that is straight out of the 1980s. We believe all ingredients are still available!

Try Something New

Summer bucket lists seem to be all the rage these days. Most include simple, nostalgic activities, like running through a sprinkler and flying a kite, that will be both easy and fun. And these new experiences just might become the summer childhood memories that your little one recalls with fondness!

Finally, our FREE early literacy calendar for July offers ideas for activities to do with your little one throughout the month to keep their minds active. Cheers to summertime!
